Veterans and first responders often carry burdens most people never see. For The 22 exists to connect them — and their families — with trusted resources, community, recovery, purpose, and a path forward.
Tri For The 22 is one campaign in that larger mission. Through endurance events, fundraising, partnerships, and community action, we raise awareness and support organizations already doing the work.

Who It Supports
Tri For The 22 raises awareness and support for organizations already doing meaningful work in the veteran community.

The Mighty Oaks Warrior Program works with veterans through a lens centered on faith, responsibility, and purpose — helping veterans and their families move forward after difficult experiences.

Veterans and Athletes United uses adaptive sports, outdoor recreation, and community to help wounded, injured, and ill veterans rebuild strength and purpose — reaching veterans who need exactly the kind of mission, movement, and community this campaign is built around.
Learn About Veterans and Athletes United →Tri For The 22 does not operate these programs. We use our platform to raise awareness and direct support toward organizations already doing the work.
More Than One Race
For The 22 is a broader mission focused on helping veterans, first responders, and their families find trusted resources, support, and community.
Tri For The 22 is one way that mission comes to life — using endurance sport to create attention, raise funds, build partnerships, and start conversations that matter.
Current Campaign
May 16, 2027 · Chattanooga, Tennessee
Tri For The 22 uses endurance sport as a platform for something larger. The goal is not simply to finish 70.3 miles — it's to turn those miles into awareness, support, partnerships, and funding for organizations serving veterans and their families. Chattanooga is the current challenge — not the definition of the mission.

Fund the Mission
The current goal is $70,000 — roughly $1,000 for every mile of IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga, the race that inspired the number. But Tri For The 22 doesn't have to raise it alone — every For The 22 campaign moves the mission forward.

The Founder
Tri For The 22 began with one person deciding to use endurance sport as a platform for something bigger. Cody Hitson is a combat veteran, husband, father, and endurance athlete who created the campaign to support organizations helping veterans and their families rebuild, recover, reconnect, and move forward.
I have benefited from people and organizations willing to invest in veterans when it mattered most. Now I want to return that investment. I cannot solve everything a veteran or first responder is carrying, but I can swim 1.2 miles, ride 56, run 13.1, and tell my story.
